Neumann High School Benefits from Amazing Celtic Race
Scavenger hunt, dinner, auction highlight event
For several hours the parents, teachers and benefactors of St. John Neumann High School gathered to celebrate while raising money to continue growing the school for the next generation of students.
The Second Annual Amazing Celtic Race included two stops. Participants were given clues to find specific locations where they were met by someone with an envelope. Each envelope asked the team to do a task, solve a puzzle or answer a question before they were given their next clue.
The race started and ended at the St. Ann Jubilee Center at St. Ann Parish with more than 60 people participating in the fun, including Bishop Frank J. Dewane. The event was followed by a dinner and auction inside the Jubilee Center with more than 125 people. School parents, staff and students served as volunteers manning the auction tables, selling raffle tickets and helped with the food and other activities.
The goal of the day was to raise money to offset the increasing costs of tuition to be able to offer deserving students a quality Catholic education, said Neumann Principal Dr. Denny Denison.
Auction items included getaways, golf packages, jewelry, and a dinner with Bishop Dewane.
The evening concluded with 10 people donating $1,000 each to purchase the school boards to help support new audio-visual equipment.
