Communications Department

General Information

The role of the Communications Department is to assist the Bishop and serve as a central point for communicating the mission of the Church and promoting the good works of the Diocese of Venice.

This department serves as spokesperson for the Bishop and the Diocese; prepares public statements and press releases for the media; collaborates with other diocesan offices and agencies in planning special events; assists parishes and schools as needed; helps manage content on the diocesan website; publishes a bi-weekly diocesan newspaper and bi-weekly electronic pastoral bulletin; and produces a Sunday TV Mass for the homebound.

Media Relations

The Communications Department works to ensure a clear, consistent message as we coordinate media requests and facilitate media responses as appropriate. To make certain this happens, all media inquiries should be directed to:

Covering Diocesan Events

Reporters and photographers are welcome to cover celebrations of the Mass and diocesan events, but we ask to be notified in advance so that we may assist you. Photography is permitted inside the church during Mass, but no flashes please. Photographers are also asked to stay a respectable distance from the altar, and not stand in the space between the sanctuary and the congregation. And finally, we ask that you respect the privacy of individuals receiving Communion.

Resources for Parishes and Schools

We want to hear what is going on in your parish community and school! Please share stories and upcoming events so that we can help publish your good works and promote events in the Florida Catholic and local press. Notify us of events and activities as far in advance as possible (at least one month), so that we can make print deadlines. Please use this convenient submission form to give us the good news.
